When Joseph Freed & Associates purchased Madison’s Hilldale Mall, they immediately planned a major redevelopment of the property. Their goal was to create a “Main Street” shopping atmosphere enabling people to shop, live, and dine within the complex.
For this project, Tri-North built five new retail structures, two parking ramps, four condominium buildings, and a free-standing restaurant. The company also performed significant site work, remodeled most of the existing mall, built an addition at the main entrance, and upgraded other entrances.
In order to provide adequate parking for mall guests, the significant portions of the project were completed in two phases. Customers utilized the mall’s surface parking during construction of the first of two parking ramps. When the first ramp opened, guests could then use it in addition to the remaining surface parking. All of the retail establishments remained open during the construction.
Tri-North continues to build storefronts for new and current mall tenants as Hilldale continues its transformation into a “new” shopping and lifestyle destination.
