A PROMISING BEGINNING
From modest beginnings in 1981, founders Joe Donnino, Donald Jones, and Thomas Thayer and their team grew Tri-North from a small company with 10 employees and a 700 square foot office into a respected leader in construction.

PAVING THE WAY
It didn’t take long for word to get out after Tri-North had completed our first projects in Wisconsin that we had quickly established a reputation for hard work, superior quality, and dedication to our clients’ long-term success. It was this same reputation that helped Tri-North land our first out of state jobs in the early 1980s. In 1985, we built a new headquarters with 3,000 square feet of office space and 3,500 square feet of shop space.

MAKING SOME NOISE
Tri-North’s success carried over into the next decade which led to a greater nationwide presence. A new decade saw dozens of exciting projects across the country and a new milestone for Tri-North as we surpassed $25 million in sales. This monumental occasion was a testament to the hard work that our team members put into every project, regardless of size. It also meant we needed to expand our staff and office to 26,000 square feet.

NEW LOCATION
With higher sales numbers came more opportunities for expansion. In 1996, we opened our Milwaukee office and became an employee-owned company. In only 9 short years since hitting the $25 million milestone, Tri North more than quadrupled sales figures and exceeded $100 million just before the new millennium.

2001
20 YEARS OLD
At the turn of the new century, while Tri North was celebrating our 20th anniversary, we continued to expand with the opening of our third office located in Dallas, Texas. The early 21st century saw a passing of the guard with the retirement of two of Tri North’s original founding members, Joe Donnino and Donald Jones. Our focus remained fixated on the future as we began designing a new corporate headquarters.

MODERN ERA BEGINS
Even with our eyes set towards the future, we never lost track of our most important values. That focus included constructing our new 53,000 square foot headquarters as sustainably as possible. Our efforts resulted in LEED Gold certification for our facility—one of the first buildings in Wisconsin with such a high rating.

Nova Retail Group
2010
A NEW DIVISION EMERGES
Our nationwide growth in full force, we opened our California office to meet the needs of a quickly broadening base of west coast clients. That same year, in order to provide a truly comprehensive service suite to our growing clientele, we launched Nova Retail Group, a new division of Tri-North based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire that is focused on space planning, branding, interior design, and associated services for high-performance environments.

THE FUTURE AND BEYOND
Soon after we celebrated our 30th anniversary, we received the highest ranking in In Business Magazine’s 2012 Best Companies to Work For listing, an honor we have since received annually. Expectations continue to rise as Tri-North takes an important step into the quickly changing world of modern construction with new technologies like drone photography and video. No matter how much Tri-North grows, we never lose sight of our founders’ ideals of providing the highest level of quality and professional services to our clients and giving back to the communities in which we work.
